THIS is the picture which shows how the heatwave is sending air pollution to dangerous levels.
The skyscrapers at Canary Wharf in East London are wreathed in filthy brown smog - the kind of dirty haze more often seen in Athens or Los Angeles.
The combination of soaring temperatures, stagnant air and pollutants from vehicles and fuels is trapping harmful ozone at ground level across the capital and other cities.
And with temperatures expected to rise again tomorrow, high levels of air pollution were forecast for Greater London and the South-East, the South-West and South Wales.
