THE terrible health problems faced by cloned animals were highlighted by a scientist yesterday.
Such genetic engineering can cause premature ageing, heart and lung problems and seizures, it was claimed.
The ethical debate has been reignited by revelations that the world's first cloned horse has been created by Italian scientists.
Dr Wolf Reik, a leading genetics expert at the Babraham Institute in Cambridge, warned that cloned animals were intrinsically flawed and that the vast majority would suffer from illness.
