It's not surprising that the birthplace of such coronary-inducing delicacies as the deep-fried Mars bar should have boasted one of the worst dietary records in Europe and certainly some of Scotland's past health statistics make alarming reading.
A few years ago the Scottish diet was more unhealthy than those of almost every other country in western Europe.
