A message from Deborah Morrison, president and chief executive officer, to the History Society's annual general meeting June 15:
The federal government recently announced 100 million dollars in funding for a new Canada History Centre. Like most of our members, I am a strong advocate for history and heritage, so I can only hope that such a major infusion of new money will be spent better connecting Canadians through new delivery vehicles rather than simply reinventing the wheel. Building another "national" monument in Ottawa (or saving one) is not the key to resolving our collective historical amnesia, which, every so often, we remember to worry about. For ...
