MAGDALO as military or political clique is a narrow exclusive circle and in 1896 it competed for political/military power with the Magdiwang group in Cavite province.

The competition or conflict led to the death of Andres Bonifacio and his brothers, Ciriaco and Procopio, for reasons known only to keen readers of history.

(Emilio Aguinaldo was inducted into the Katipunan in March 1895 by founder/Supremo Bonifacio. He chose Magdalo as his secret society name, after the patron saint of Kawit, Mary Magdalene.)
