Seeking the elusive goal of security
THE Gulf states are facing the daunting challenge of forging new security arrangements for the region after the trauma of war. Saudi Arabia, the GCC's biggest state and a central player in the US-led military coalition, is emerging from the greatest trial in its history after confronting Iraqi aggression against Kuwait by accepting the risk of relying openly on Western forces.
