A Japanese government panel July 25 recommended introducing a place of origin labeling requirement on semi-processed foodstuffs produced domestically and imported from other countries. The joint council of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' Agricultural Produce Specification Study Council Labeling Subcommittee and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare's Pharmaceutical and Food Sanitation Council's Food Sanitation and Labeling Subcommittee released a joint report.
