Vikings assistant linebackers coach Pete Bercich was trying to describe Mike Tice and Jack Del Rio, friends and former Vikings teammates who made two of the quickest coaching climbs in NFL history.
"There are a lot of similarities," Bercich said. "Love of the game. Longtime students of the game. There's a saying that [Vikings defensive coordinator] George O'Leary uses: `Learn the trade, not the tricks of the trade.' That's how Mike and Jack did it."
What about their differences?
