Pies are square with me. I'm passionate about pizza, whether crunchy grilled at Fresco by Scotto, exotically topped at Otto, drizzled with truffle oil at Maloney & Porcelli, or served as a kind of forethought at Rocco's. I dislike burned ones and those with only a flavor bull's-eye on a vast target of dry crust.
Naples is regarded as the home of authentic pizza, and only two ristorantes in New York are actually certified as making genuine pizza Napoletana. La Pizza Fresca and Naples 45 have been so designated by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana and go to great lengths to make the real deal, pie-wise.
