TOKYO, Aug 14 Asia Pulse - Ito En Ltd. (TSE:2593) has developed technology enabling the major beverage maker to mix used wet green tea leaves with resin to create plastic that releases a tea fragrance and has the capability to fight harmful bacteria, the company said Wednesday.
The company jointly developed the technology with NOF Corp. (TSE:4403), a major chemical company that supplies the resin, polyolefin.
The plastic will also contain polyphenol, the antioxidant agent found in the beverage, and the scent of tea leaves.
