A&E NURSES say obsolete practice in the care of patients with head injuries should come to an end following the publication of a new clinical guideline by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE)
Senior A&E nurse Gabby Lomas, who helped draw up the guideline, said best practice should now become the norm. All NICE guidelines must be implemented by the NHS in England and Wales.
Ms Lomas, a member of the RCN's A&E nursing association, said: 'We did have a number of guidelines so this will encourage the spread of best practice. For example, while skull X-rays may be needed, if we have imaging available, it is important to use it. A&E ...
