Article: Car sales up to 170,811 units in first half of 2003. (Trade).

After a sliding in May, car sales in June the country rose 7% to 30,319 units in June, 2003 month-on-month. Increase was recorded both in the sales of commercial cars to 26,331 units and sedan to 3,988 units in June. The rise in the sales of sedan was attributable mainly to launching of new models starting in May such as Toyota Vios, Suzuki Baleno Next-G and All New Honda City all small sedan with cylinder capacity of 1,500 cc. The market of sedan is predicted to rise further in 2003 to follow the launching of more new models and brands both from local assembling plants and through imports.
