Pru Acquires Maryland HMO From John Hopkins
Seeking to expand its managed care presence in the Maryland/Washington D.C. area, Prudential has acquired the John Hopkins Health Plan, an HMO with nearly 113,000 members.
The John Hopkins organization will now become part of Prudential Health Care Plan or PruCare.
Neither representatives from Pru nor John Hopkins would disclose financial details of the deal.
Sources say that although the HMO has not been given a new name, it will most likely have a Pru tag attached to it.
