New educators must feel tired and confused. Over the past few years they have suffered under a mind-numbing barrage of teacher preparation mandates that have had a severe impact on correctly advising education majors. Students almost need an attorney to make certain that all state-mandated requirements are met, so that they will be cleared for graduation. The process of meeting requirements becomes more difficult each year. Making all this even more complicated, states and school districts have increased shortcut alternative routes and temporary certification options in response to the overall teacher shortage in most subject areas.
