The $1.1 billion, 2,002-room, 4.195 million SF Borgata Hotel, Casino & Spa threw open its doors just before midnight on July 2 at Renaissance Point in Atlantic City, marking the opening of the first new hotel casino there in 13 years.
Executives of joint-venture owners Boyd Gaming Corporation and MGM MIRAGE led the first throw of the dice along with celebrities from the film, fashion and entertainment worlds. Immediately following, thousands of patrons flowed in throughout the night to get their first glimpe of Atlantic City's new, premiere travel destination.
