2003 AUG 19 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- A series of novel tree-of-heaven derivatives are active against drug-resistant malaria parasites.
In a recent study from the United States, "extracts and isolated compounds from seedlings of Ailanthus altissima were assessed for antiplasmodial activity in vitro."
"Two quassinoids, ailanthone and 6alpha-tigloyloxychaparrinone, isolated from the active extracts showed activity against both chloroquine-resistant and chloroquine-sensitive strains of Plasmodium falciparum in vitro," according to A.L.
