Aug. 17--Coca-Cola and Pepsico have faced a torrent of criticism -- and even some violence -- in India this month after an environmental group charged the companies with selling soft drinks contaminated with pesticides.
While the companies have strongly denied the claims, the news has played big in India -- prompting scattered protests and a few calls for banning Coke and Pepsi products.
On Aug. 7, protesters vandalized a Coca-Cola supply outlet in Allahabad, along with attacking shops that sell Coke and Pepsi.
