A LEADING critic of the Atkins diet faced controversy over her research funding last night.

Dr Susan Jebb, one of Britain's most senior nutrition experts, denounced the high-protein, high-fat regime as a 'major heath risk' last week.

She is now accused of a conflict of interest because the Medical Research Council (MRC) for which she works received [pounds sterling]20,000 for two reports - both written by Dr Jebb - from the Flour Advisory Bureau, which represents the flour-milling industry.
