Mike Duggan, who served as news editor, managing editor and director of the Knight Ridder News Service, which he helped establish, died Aug. 15 of a heart attack at his Fairfax home. He was 56.
Mr. Duggan was raised in Detroit and graduated from De La Salle High School in 1964.
He served three tours of duty in Vietnam with the Army in the late 1960s, then graduated from Wayne State University in 1971.
Mr. Duggan took a job as a copy boy at the Detroit Free Press nearly 40 years ago and went on to become a copy editor. He was one of the first editors hired when Knight Newspapers Inc. started up a news ...
