Blue Cross appealing Medicaid contract
New bill $15 million lower
Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Mississippi is appealing its loss of a multimillion-dollar Mississippi Medicaid fiscal management contract, hoping its new bid, which is $15 million less than its unsuccessful first try, will change the Medicaid Commission's mind about awarding the six-year contract to The Computer Co. (TCC) of Richmond, Va.
Medicaid Director Helen Wetherbee indicated she is not favorably disposed toward reconsidering the Blue Cross bid because she thinks it would be unfair to all other bidders, successful and unsuccessful.
