Retail sales growth slows to 8.4% in H1, 6.3% in June

Budapest. August 22. INTERFAX-EUROPE - Retail sales growth in Hungary was 6.3% year on year in June 2003, according to working-day adjusted figures released by the Central Statistical Office (KSH) on Friday. This is up 0.9% from May under seasonally and working-day adjusted data, but it still represents a slowdown from growth at 8.4% in the first half of the year and 6.9% in Q2 overall.

Retail turnover excluding sales of motor vehicles and fuel reached HUF 388 billion in June, just 1.5% higher than a year earlier. For the first half, the figure was up 8.5% to HUF 2.13 trillion.
