I like my job, but you know what they say: Always have a backup plan.
After 27 years of wrestling sentences and shoveling commas, I shouldn't think I'd need it. But just in case, I plan to host a TV talk show. I know what you're thinking: Buy that fool a clue. But when I see some of the people who already have talk shows, I wonder how hard it can be.
I'm not talking about Oprah or Donahue. She's been talking the talk for 17 years, and Donahue did it for more than 25 years.
I'm talking about the Jesse Venturas, the Fergies and the Caroline Rheas, each of whom has, had or is getting a talk show this fall. And just ...
