Xcel Energy is close to selling its Arizona subsidiary Black Mountain Gas Co. to Southwest Gas Corp. for more than $25 million.
Utility regulators in Arizona approved the proposed sale earlier this month, paving the way for Xcel to file with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday.
Las Vegas-based Southwest has agreed to pay Xcel $18.7 million in cash and pick up outstanding debt worth $6.5 million, the SEC filing stated.
``We'll close the deal as soon as the SEC approves it,'' said Southwest spokesman Garth Andrews. ``We feel it (Black Mountain Gas) will be a good fit for us.''
