CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY Two military men and 40 members of the Civilian Auxilliary Forces Geographic Unit (CAFGU) defected to the New Peoples Army (NPA) and joined a rebel group in San Luis, Agusan del Sur, a rebel spokesman said.
Army Cpl. Eduard Quirante, PFC Boboy Abduhasad and 40 CAFGUs belonging to the Charlie Company of the 29th Infantry Battalion headed by Maj. Paul Aquino are now with the communist rebels, the spokesman said.
The men brought with them, among others, one M203 grenade launcher, two M16 rifles, two M14 rifles and four garand rifles.
