Aug. 29--Gasoline prices at the pump hit a fresh national record Thursday, as demand from drivers remained high with the Labor Day holiday approaching.
The travel club AAA pegged the national average for regular unleaded gas at $1.74 a gallon on Thursday, while Texas prices were about 2 cents shy of their record $1.62 reached in March. Dallas drivers paid an average of $1.61.
Though disrupted refineries and broken pipelines are coming back online, few analysts or executives expect gas prices to fall before the end of the holiday weekend.
