Of the 225 nursing homes currently operating in Arkansas, 103 say they can no longer afford or obtain liability insurance because premiums have sky-rocketed, according to a survey released last week by the Arkansas Health Care Association of Little Rock.

Statewide nursing home premiums, have jumped 2,025.1 percent since 1999 when they grew from $658,796 to nearly $14 million in 2002, the AHCA said.
