PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Japan-based SUMITOMO CORP. was expected to resume in August 2003 the construction of a large-scale coal-fired power station that was suspended in 1998 as a result of the Asian financial crisis. The contract that was initially awarded by an undisclosed independent power producer has now been renegotiated with the government. As a result, SUMITOMO is now expected to acquire possession of the facility after its built.

Although the size of the plant has not yet been revealed it is nevertheless expected to cost about $1,500,000,000 to build. Of this amount some $1,170,000,000 will to be financed by the JAPAN BANK FOR INTERNATIONAL ...
