PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local SIBERIAN URAL PETROCHEMICAL & GAS (SIBUR), a subsidiary of GAZPROM, is now expected to begin building its long-delayed low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant some time this year. Construction plans under consideration call for building a complex with an installed production capacity of 300,000 metric tons per year.
The new facility, to be sited at Novy Urengoi, is expected to cost about $560,000,000 to build. And, project completion is scheduled for the end of the year 2006. According to a GAZPROM spokesman, some 75% of the estimated project cost will be raised through loans from offshore banks with the balance coming from ...
