Dorothy Rippon cannot bear to look at the remains of what was once one of the North-East's best-known stately homes.
Ravensworth Castle, near Gateshead, is now a crumbling ruin. But Dorothy, 82, remembers it as a thriving community where she spent a happy childhood at North Lodge, where her grandparents had also lived.
