Every morning around the world--at least in the post-Freudian West--there is a ritual encounter between two people as they crawl out of bed. It goes something like this: one person says to the other, "Did you sleep ok?" and the other person says, "Yes, but I had this strange dream."
Here the universal scenario begins to break down, with the partners either diverging or converging around the answer depending on how long this ritual has been enacted (every morning, once a week) and the varied responses available to both parties: a quick retreat to another room to put it all in a journal; a quick retreat to another room to avoid listening to the complicated details ...
