Coal Based Power Projects
Pakistan is blessed with a number of coal deposits, out of which the major coal fields are Lakhra and Meting-Jhimpir in Sindh province: Khost-Sharig-Harnai, Mach and Sore Range-Degari in Balochistan: Makerwal and Salt Range in Punjab. There is no major coal deposit in NWFP.
The minor coal deposits include Badinzai. Bahlol, Bala Chaka, Balgor, Duki, Johan, Kach. Margot. Abegum and Pir Ismail Ziarat in Balochistan; Cherat in NWFP, Choi in Punjab and Khilla Muzaffarabad and Kotli in Azad Kashmir. Sonda in Sindh province may be considered an extension of Lakhra coal field.
