The fastest growing economy in the world, Qatar is having $23.9 bn worth of investments in its energy sector to end-2007. A major part of this is expected from foreign companies, with ExxonMobil of the US in the lead. US companies have already invested about 75% of $28 bn spent on oil, gas and downstream projects. Over the next 15 years, these and other foreign firms will provide tax that would equal about 40-50% of Qatar's annual budget.
