A staple of the American back yard during the summer is the grill.
Whether one is cooking a few burgers and hot dogs for the family or kabobs and barbecued chicken for more than 100, the grill represents a throne of sorts to its operator. Traditionally, being the griller equals being King of the Backyard.
And in the 1980s, companies like Weber and Sunbeam turned backyard cooking upside down by making it a faster, less messy process. Enter the gas grill.
While charcoal is still nationally a popular choice, grill makers see an increasing conversion to the propane tank or natural gas hookup.
