Dresses Turn Into Retail's Hottest Ticket
When retailers discuss dresses, there's no mention of a recession.
Stores may be struggling to sell sportswear and suits, but this spring, dresses are having a revivial, thanks to A-line and trapeze silhouettes, Jackie O and "Pretty Woman" looks, colorblocking and good pricing.
As Kal Ruttenstein, senior vice president of fashion direction, Bloomingdale's, said, "The dress market has been innovative and opportunistic in coming up with the right silhouettes, fabrics and prices."
