PHILADELPHIA - They woke up in Boston and went to sleep in Chicago, but in between the Red Sox played in one hell of a game in Philadelphia yesterday.
By day's end, the trip was clearly worth it, even if an ailing Manny Ramirez was there in body only and did not play a role at all.
In the make-up game rescheduled from June 20, the Red Sox beat the Phillies in unforgettable style, 13-9, in a 4-hour and 4-minute Labor Day marathon at Veterans Stadium.
Trailing 9-7 in the ninth inning, the Red Sox scratched together a pair of runs to tie before Trot Nixon delivered the knockout punch with a grand slam. One ...
