New Filters Help Corning Cut Dust Control Costs When Corning Inc. put pencil to paper to design its new Specialty Cellular Ceramics plant at Erwin, N.Y., it combined lessons from its previous operation with a hard look at dust control technology.
"We decided to go from three ganged cartridge paper filter collectors, with a common 75-hp fan and auger dust removal system, to three stand-alone collectors with new rigid, sintered polyethylene composite filter technology," said Jim Murphy, consulting project engineer for Corning.
