EARLIER this year, mht material handling technologies installed a conveying system for calcium carbonate filler at Vita Thermoplastics in Middleton, Manchester. The system consisted of a big-bag unloading unit, a pneumatic feeding system to a buffer hopper and a dosing device to refill loss-in-weight feeders.
Previously, Vita had been handling the majority of materials manually from 25 kg bags. Now chalk is being delivered to the site in 1 tonne big-bags.
In order to avoid loss of material and the need to extract dust during emptying, the big-bag unloading unit has been designed with a clamping and sealing device.
