For more than a year, the Gateway Fountain in downtown Minneapolis has been turned off - the victim of age and budget cuts at the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board.
And though summer is quickly coming to an end, city and Hennepin County officials, along with local residents, are racing to find $25,000 to repair the 1960s-era fountain this fall and then find more money to operate it next year.
