Sep. 5--Electric bills could get a jolt next year if power companies must tackle the pricey job of upgrading the grid in the aftermath of the blackout, Con Edison's boss conceded yesterday.
Kevin Burke, whose company powers 3.1 million homes and businesses in New York City and Westchester, said Con Ed might seek to raise rates if it has to ramp up spending for electric transmission. He made the remarks to Assembly Democrats, who called him to testify about last month's blackout.
