Sep. 5--Local beekeepers should be getting a sweet deal as they enjoy exceptional prices for their honey, but the weather this year hasn't cooperated in production.
At prices between $1.24 and $1.60 a pound, honey is nearly as expensive as gasoline.
Herman A. Danenhower, who operates Danenhower Apiaries in Greenwich Township, bought 50 new bee colonies this spring to take advantage of the prices, raising his total number of hives to 150.
