"I didn't realize we were the first rock band to play Fenway Park until they announced that," said E Street Band guitarist Steve Van Zandt. "I was born in Boston, Watertown. My mother remarried when I was young, so we left town when I was 7. But it still does have that particular significance."
And with the Red Sox embroiled in a pennant race, Van Zandt made this promise to Boston, with a laugh: "Let me assure everyone right now, there will still be a field when we leave."
