Literature Review
The purposes of this study were to measure the knowledge of pain mechanisms and pain management among practicing orthopedic physical therapists and to describe the attitudes these therapists hold in regard to treating patients with benign chronic pain secondary to orthopedic disorders. We define benign chronic pain as pain of greater than 6 months' duration not attributable to malignancy. Patients with benign chronic pain are frequently seen in orthopedic physical therapy clinics.
