Sep. 8--Damaged by more than a century of dredging projects in Jamaica Bay, the salt marsh and wetlands in Gerritsen Creek soon will receive a $6 million face-lift.
Twenty acres of wetlands in and around the Salt Marsh Nature Center in Marine Park will be restored and an additional 15 acres will be replanted with native grasses.
The Army Corps of Engineers along with New York City Parks and the State Department of Environmental Conservation released a draft study of the project seeking public comment last Friday.
