MILWAUKEE - Johnnie B. (Dusty) Baker looked a little like Johnny Appleseed last week at Wrigley Field. He walked around the diamond, dipping his hand into a bag and casting some sort of substance onto the grass and dirt.
The Cubs manager has been hesitant to talk about the ritual, perhaps not wanting to give away his secret, stir up the spirits or mess with the magic.
That's OK. Whatever Baker was up to certainly can do no harm. It might even help.
