WEST COAST SPREADING NEW IMAGE NEW YORK -- West Coast young men's/contemporary resources have finally come out from under the beach umbrella. In the process, they're losing the perception of being primarily a spring/summer industry and becoming a viable year-round resource.
The West Coast fashion axis encompasses Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco and includes giants like Guess, Levi's, the Gap, Ocean Pacific and Generra. When the expression "West Coast" was used in the '80s, it tended to imply Los Angeles, beach and surf activewear, surfers and rad thrashers (skateboarders).
