Grip is retired, and it shows.
On a hot summer day he sprawls beneath a giant umbrella, his tongue lolling slightly out of his mouth, his legs splayed, his slight snore carrying on the breeze.
He ignores his pals splashing in the heated in-ground pool nearby and the abruptly interrupted attempt at romantic entanglement over in the corner. Not even the piped-in music of the pop group Train singing "Drops of Jupiter" can rouse him.
Yes, these are literally the dog days for Grip, a retired racing greyhound who is passing time at the area's most lavish country club.
