Uproar in marketplace sparks a spate of restructuring

Los Angeles' top public relations firms are expanding into new areas of expertise and scrapping for new business, as agency heads are reporting that they are seeing more resumes from out of work professionals than ever.

Some agencies continued to grow last year, while others laid off employees and reported flat or declining revenues. Some said that PR agencies, which experienced enormous growth during the '70s and '80s, may be hitting a plateau.
