NEW YORK -- There's a battle royale brewing in the men's better sportswear market.

Last week, Michael Kors Inc. announced it will launch an ambitious new label for fall '04 that will go head-to-head with major new men's lines from Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, confirming an Aug. 25 report in DNR. The new lower-priced label, called Michael Michael Kors, is projected to ring up sales of close to $1 billion globally, with men's comprising half of that figure.
