Nashik, Aug 17 (PTI) Under unprecedented security, over two million pilgrims and 70,000 sadhus Sunday took holy dip in Ramkund on the banks of Godavari river here on the occasion of 'Shaahi Snan' (Royal Bath) of Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Sinhastha Kumbh Mela 2003.
The Kumbh comes after a gap of 12 years to Ramkund, which is the holy site where Lord Rama, according to legends, took his 14 year exile.
The sadhus and their Mahants (head priests) belonging to three akhadas of the Vaishnav Sect-- Nirvani, Digambar and Nirmohi-- proceeded in a royal procession from Lakshmi Narayan temple, where their 'tapowan' is located. ...
