21 JULY 2003 PAGO PAGO (Pacnews) - American Samoa will receive over US$33 million in a grant from the US Government after congress passed a vote of 268 to 152 on the Interior Appropriations Bill for the Pacific country's 2004 fiscal year.

The grant totals US$33,240,000 for the American Samoa Government (ASG), says congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin.

Faleomavaega says he "fought hard" to keep the funding in place, adding he was pleased he got his colleagues' support "to make sure that American Samoa's funding remains in place, despite the budget cuts this country is facing and despite our nation's need to increase funding for the war on terrorism.
